Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words: Dear God,Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, MeredithWe put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away. Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find. I am wherever there is love. Love, God Don’t say you’re too busy to reblog this.
I don’t believe in God, but this is too beautiful to post! I’ve heard things like this before. Posties do a lot more than just deliver the mail!

This will not ruin your blog. Everyone say a prayer for the baby they found in the bin and ants were eating it. If you have a heart you’d pass this on.

Who would do something like this ?! A completely heartless person )’:

So you want to kill yourself right? it’ll make the pain go away. now there’s no one to hate you. no one who doesn’t love you. no school, no stress, no worries. right? of course. so what about your parents? what would they think if you killed yourself? they’d be glad that youre finally out of their lives, right? and your school friends? they cant wait to get rid of you right? wrong. if you killed yourself tonight, you are not only dramatically changing your life, but you are dramatically changing some one elses. tomorrow morning, if your parent(s) came in and found you dead, what do you expect their reaction to be? in case you dont know, ill tell you. first, they wont believe it. then, they’ll try and wake you up, as though you just overslept. they’ll try anything. then they’ll give up. theyll be paralysed, in shock for a while. then, the tears will come. so many tears. why did you do it? theyll ask. what happened? then they’ll start questioning themselves. was it their fault? was it something they did? and they will be forever stuck with that guilt because theyll never know the answer. and your friends. the friends that hate you, right? let me tell you something. they dont hate you. theyre just jealous. your primary school teachers were right, and so was your mum. they only hate you, because you have something they want. its the only reason there is hate and prejudice in this world. because let me tell you something. no matter what you think, what you tell yourself, what you have heard, you are beautiful. you are beautiful. tell yourself this. i am beautiful. never try to be perfect for anyone, because someday, someone IS going to fall inlove with your imperfections. i can guarantee you that, i can bet my life on it. so if you killed yourself, ill tell you the girls that hate you’s reactions. theyd be in shock. theyd probably cry as well. but then, like your parents, theyd feel the guilt aswell. was it their fault? was it on their backs? what have they done? then they might start to question their existence as well. they might take their own life too. and you know how your gonna be single forever right? how youre never going to find love? well let me tell you something. right now, some where in your town, or country, there is someone thinking about you. it may be a girl who secretly loves you. it may be a guy, who actually thinks about you day in day out, but is a loser and is too scared too confront you. if you killed yourself, you’d never know where you would have found love. you never know what would have happened the day after you killed yourself, who would have called you, who would have inboxed you, anything. you dont know who would have asked you out, even if they were one of the most unpopular kids at your school. you just dont know anything, because youre dead. thats the only way to say it - dead. no icing on the top, making it sound like a luxury, youd be dead. so dont kill yourself. just dont. push it out of your mind. because at the end of the day, im thinking about you, and i spent around 20 minutes of my night writing this to you, hoping to be of some help, though i may not have done anything at all. please remember. people love you, and you are never, EVER, alone.
